Abstract | DNSSEC implementations have been discussed for about ten years now. In december 2003, the Delegation Signer model was introduced, which looks promising for real world use. However, it is not known, how well-behaved this protocol enhancement will be. In this thesis, we try to clarify on two major issues. First there will be a discussion of traffic sizes of DNSSEC in comparison to DNS, from an overall view down to packet sizes. This discussion is based on a synthetical translation of DNS traces to DNSSEC traffic. Second the CPU and memory overhead of DNS is discussed by messurements in a testbed setup with about 100,000 zones generated from real world data. |
